I've done quite a bit of cutting down dead trees plus ones that came down on their own & dragging them into my yard for firewood . And as a teenager , my Dad buddied up with another guy to cut pulp wood (what a mistake that partnership was) .Anyhow , Dad & the other guy would drop certain sized trees , delimb them & I would drag them out to a big field & arrange them so the log truck could get at them safely . I really enjoyed those days except for one day in particular .While dragging a log out that Dad dropped the other guy (who was very careless) dropped a tree which dropped directly down across the tractor & me . If Dad wouldn't have been keeping an eye on that guy , & saw the tree coming at me & yelling & pointing I wouldn't be here to share this . Praise the Lord I had just enough time to kick the tractor of gear & lay down along side of the engine & radious rods . That of course brought a nice day to a quick halt . The tractor had to be hauled out & to a dealer for many repairs . I had one heck of a goose egg on my head & a sore hand from holding onto the steering wheel & a large limb coming down on it . I was very lucky that day . The tractor had a bent steering wheel , smashed fender , crushed heat houser cab , dash & hood damages . That days experience ended that partnership . Sorry for my long winded tale . I just wanna wish you safety while doing your logging project . Remember that a narrow front end can be dangerous on rough terrain . God bless , Ken
